Q. What does a franchise cost?
The Initial Franchise Fee is $35,000 for restaurant #1 and #2, then drops to $30,000 for each subsequent restaurant developed. All costs associated with building and equipping a full-service restaurant, including real estate costs, are the responsibility of the Franchisee. The Friendly's Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) details a high and low range of costs.

Q. What are the royalty and marketing fees?
Friendly's Royalty is 4% and the Marketing Fee is 3.5% of Gross Sales paid on a monthly basis. Up to 3/4% of the 3% Franchisee contribution is allocated to ad production costs and the remaining will be used for media buy.

Friendly's requires the successful completion of an Owner's Orientation as well as a training program for the Management Team. A Friendly's opening team will be sent to assist the Franchise prior to and post opening. The Friendly's Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) sets forth the specifics of the training requirements and opening services provided.

You can expect ample marketing support from Friendly's. Ad production, menu development, point-of-sale materials, signage and banners, and public relations announcements are only a few of the many marketing support opportunities.

Q. How will I get my food/paper supplies?
Friendly's has a list of specified products which all Friendly's restaurants are required to use. The Franchisee has two choices: (1) order all supplies through Friendly's Distribution System, a one-stop-shop, or (2) purchase these supplies from an approved supplier, provided the products are either the "specified products" or "approved products". Friendly's does not permit unapproved substitutions for specified or approved products. However, certain proprietary products must be purchased from Friendly's
