WILBRAHAM, Mass. (September 12, 2007) Friendly Ice Cream Corporation has named George "Skip" Weldon vice president of marketing effective August 27. Weldon brings major consumer brands and restaurant experience to Friendly's, where he will be responsible for leading all marketing and brand strategies for company and franchise restaurants.

"His extensive experience, including award-winning advertising, close working relationships with franchisees, and major restaurant brand expertise, has prepared him well for this new challenge."
Weldon was previously Vice President of Field Marketing for Dunkin' Donuts, where he led a team of 40 marketing managers and directors in creating and implementing strategic programs to drive national and local sales. He started his Dunkin' Donuts career as the Field Marketing Director for the Northeast region.
Prior to Dunkin' Donuts, Skip spent 20 years as an executive with major Boston advertising agencies, including Arnold Communications, Houston Herstek Favat, and Ingalls, Quinn & Johnson. He was responsible for highly successful, award-winning marketing campaigns for major brands including Converse Athletic Footwear, Parker Brothers Games and the American Legacy Foundation's Truth Brand.
Skip is a graduate of Tufts University. He and his family live in Medfield, Mass.
