Wilbraham, MA (September 16, 2005) - When Friendly's Restaurant at 3000 Lycoming Mall Circle in Pennsdale celebrated its grand re-opening on September 15, 2005, area residents found a distinctive look that focuses on - what else - ice cream.

The cream and natural brick exterior and the ice cream colors inside the restaurant evoke the heritage that has made Friendly's a family favorite for decades.

"Who doesn't remember savoring an ice cream cone on a hot summer day or diving into Banana Split? Our goal in refurbishing our restaurants is to create an inviting look and feel where today's guests can share good food and delicious ice cream - and where our guests can relive old memories and create new ones," said Pete Bell, Senior Director Brand Marketing.

The new ice cream shop feel will extend to "chocolate and vanilla" tile flooring in the foyer; and "mocha" colored booth cushions. Whimsical artwork that reflects local landmarks will create a warm feeling.

For a limited time, guests at the Pennsdale Friendly's can also enjoy some extra special treats: a free Happy Ending Sundae with the purchase of any of our featured Chicken Entrees, including the new Firecracker Chicken Basket, Oriental Sesame Chicken Basket and Honey BBQ Chicken Basket. Guests can also indulge on the featured ice cream flavor - Peanut Butter Brittle.

Friendly's Restaurants has been part of the local community for over 25 years and employs 36 people in Pennsdale. The Pennsdale restaurant is one of many Friendly's Restaurants slated for refurbishing this year. Remodeling requires closing for about a week, noted Bell "This is part of our ongoing commitment to keeping Friendly's the top choice for family dining," said Bell. "We plan to invest more than $100,000 in this restaurant alone to create a look that is fresh and exciting while remaining true to our heritage of quality meals, signature ice cream shop treats and 'friendly' service."
