FRIENDLY'S CELEBRATES GRAND RE-OPENING IN WEST HARWICH, MASSACHUSETTS Ice Cream Parlor Heritage the Focus Wilbraham, MA (May 14, 2004) - When Friendly's Restaurant at 11 Main Street in West Harwich celebrates its grand re-opening on May 15, 2004, area residents will find a distinctive look that focuses on - what else - ice cream. From the cream and natural brick exterior to the ice cream colors and soda fountain counter inside, the restaurant will evoke the heritage that has made Friendly's a family favorite for decades. "Who doesn't remember carefully savoring an ice cream cone on a summer day or diving into a luscious sundae as a child? Our goal in refurbishing our restaurants is to create an inviting look and feel where today's guests can share good food and good times -- and create their own memories," said Larry Rusinko, Senior Vice President, Marketing for Friendly's. The new ice cream shop feel will extend to "chocolate and vanilla" tile flooring; "pistachio" wall covering; and "strawberry" tabletops. Counter seats will provide an authentic ice cream shop feel while booths with "mocha" colored cushions will be perfect for groups of families and friends. Dark wood wainscoting, soft light fixtures, and whimsical artwork that reflect local landmarks will create a warm feeling. For a limited time, guests at the West Harwich Friendly's can also enjoy some extra special treats: a free Happy Ending Sundae with the purchase of any of six featured sandwiches, including the new Baja Chicken Sandwich and Baja Colossal Burger. Guests can also indulge on the featured ice cream flavor - Nuts over Caramel. Friendly's Restaurants has been part of the local community for over 18 years and employs 24 people in West Harwich. The West Harwich restaurant is one of 50 Friendly's Restaurants slated for refurbishing this year. Remodeling requires closing for about a week, noted Rusinko. "This is part of our ongoing commitment to keeping Friendly's the top choice for family dining," said Rusinko. "We plan to invest more than $100,000 in this restaurant alone to create a look that is fresh and exciting while remaining true to our heritage of quality meals, signature ice cream shop treats and 'friendly' service."
