FRIENDLY'S FRANCHISES DAYTON AREA RESTAURANTS WILBRAHAM, MASSACHUSETTS (March 9, 2004) - - Friendly's Restaurants Franchise, Inc., a subsidiary of Friendly Ice Cream Corporation (Friendly's, AMEX:FRN) of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, announced today an agreement with 4th Day Hospitality, LLC to franchise five Dayton, Ohio area Friendly's (list attached). This agreement will also bring five new Friendly's into the Dayton area with an option for five additional, totaling ten new restaurants. Based in Mason, Ohio, 4th Day Hospitality, LLC, is led by Kevin R. Peyton, a 14-year veteran of the restaurant industry. Friendly's Chief Executive Officer and President, John L. Cutter, offered, "We're pleased to welcome Kevin into the Friendly's franchise family. Kevin's operations management experience and his understanding of our brand's heritage is a great fit for Friendly's. We think the Dayton market is ripe for franchise development, and we're excited that a proven operator like Kevin sees it's potential". Kevin R. Peyton, Managing Member, said, "This brand is stronger than ever, and I am very excited to be operating these units in Miami Valley". Friendly's also announces the re-franchising agreements of four restaurants in the Cleveland area. Dan D Restaurants, LLC of North Canton, will operate the Friendly's in Massillon and West Lake, Ohio. JEMM Restaurants, LLC of Strongsville will operate the Friendly's in Cuyahoga Falls and Ashland, Ohio.
